My nest egg has grown and her&#8217;s remains wonderful as some frugal habits are hard to relinquish.<\/p>\n<p>To her credit, and her benefit, \u00a0the one time she didn&#8217;t start from no, didn&#8217;t say no, resulted in the love affair of the decade. \u00a0She has developed a true and deep love of an old dog. \u00a0She and Toti Nonna continue to save each other each week since Lina died. \u00a0They are the reason each looks forward to the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/image1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2548\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2548 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/image1-205x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/image1-205x300.jpg 205w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/image1-701x1024.jpg 701w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/image1.jpg 2040w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 205px) 100vw, 205px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve had a new string of wonderful young people cycle through my life and on to live their fullest lives and I fully anticipate this will happen again and again. \u00a0There is something to be said for being once removed from family where one can stamp their feet and empty their angst while filling their stomachs. \u00a0I&#8217;d like to say I&#8217;ve perfected that particular method of being available.<\/p>\n<p>Previously published in 2013:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/With-two-you-get-eggroll.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1467\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1467 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/With-two-you-get-eggroll-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/With-two-you-get-eggroll-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/With-two-you-get-eggroll-1024x686.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/With-two-you-get-eggroll-447x300.jpg 447w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She loves her Chinese food, me not so much.\u00a0 She has a million quips and quotes that somehow grew us up and we remember to this day.\u00a0 She is eighty three\u00a0and like most people her age she concentrates on herself, some amazing survival instinct of the aged. She truly made a silk purse from a sow\u2019s ear, she scrimped and saved and has a wonderful nest egg, me not so much but she is generous.<\/p>\n<p>In the eight years since my Father passed we have become\u2026something.\u00a0 Something more than we were and less than we will ever be.\u00a0 I have developed a certain respect for her charm, her ability to bring people to her and to make them feel\u2026something.\u00a0 Loved, important, heard, special.\u00a0 She has a long line of people who will always remember how she made them feel.\u00a0 Including me.<\/p>\n<p>But she and I couldn\u2019t be more different in many ways.\u00a0 I am hopeful that I\u2019ve been able to cultivate that ability of hers to bring people to me.\u00a0 Maya Angelou said today that her second greatest blessing has been her ability to turn people into children of hers.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had a string of people that I believe turned into children of mine but have now moved on into wonderful and satisfying lives through new jobs, new relationships or reestablished relationships with their own mothers,\u00a0and new\u2026something.<\/p>\n<p>You never really know the effect you\u2019ve had on people, there are no Mother\u2019s Day calls when people have taken your love and lessons and moved on to send those lessons into their own worlds.\u00a0 You can be grateful for the love and lessons you\u2019ve received from a Mother you\u2019re only now getting to know, love and respect. \u00a0\u00a0I am grateful for both the sending and the receiving.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Happy Mother\u2019s Day to all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Happy Mother&#8217;s Day Rere I wondered if this had changed in the four years since I first wrote it. \u00a0No, not really we are still, my mother and I, something&#8230;best described as comfortably, and now mutually,\u00a0respectful.
