{"id":1652,"date":"2013-10-20T16:53:17","date_gmt":"2013-10-20T20:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/?p=1652"},"modified":"2013-10-20T17:18:05","modified_gmt":"2013-10-20T21:18:05","slug":"yes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/2013\/10\/20\/yes\/","title":{"rendered":"Yes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1651\" alt=\"DSC_0001 (2)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2-1024x679.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2-452x300.jpg 452w, https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_0001-2.jpg 1567w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What about you, they said, would you jump out of a plane.\u00a0 Uh, no.\u00a0 Skiing?\u00a0 You mean where you look out over the top of a mountain and then throw yourself over on the equivalent of two sticks?\u00a0 Uh, no.\u00a0 Sounds like I\u2019m starting from no but, in fact, quite a bit of thought has gone into these decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Really I start from yes most of the time and I\u2019d really like to see more people do that.\u00a0 When posed the statement:\u00a0 I want to live in a world _____.\u00a0 I said I want to live in a world where people start from yes.\u00a0 I get that that isn\u2019t going to happen all the time but this week it didn\u2019t happen at all.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m backing out of a parking space on Stowe Lane last week and my overly cautious, not want to scrape up my tires and rims, watch the mirrors, and the camera way of doing that pissed off one of my neighbors.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t cut her off but she did have to wait and she was in my face about that.\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 You\u2019ve heard me mention the Mayor of the Pool and her hard ass, gravelly voice, don\u2019t come to my end of the pool, incensed because she has to go outside the fence to smoke personality.\u00a0 Well there she was giving me the face and the head shake as I\u2019m apologizing.\u00a0 Wait.\u00a0 I\u2019m apologizing.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t stop, she didn\u2019t care so you can imagine me going all triple dog dare and calling her bitch.\u00a0 I\u2019m not proud of it but it needed to be done.<\/p>\n<p>Why was that necessary in a darling little neighborhood like ours?\u00a0 Why is it ever necessary to always start from no without a second\u2019s hesitation?<\/p>\n<p>Enter the Starbucks one morning and it\u2019s jammin\u2026no surprise it\u2019s 8:30am.\u00a0 Waiting in line, smiling and chatting with the people.\u00a0 Place my order, venti skim no foam one Splenda latte please.\u00a0 Your name she says. Sandi.\u00a0 What?\u00a0 It\u2019s not an uncommon name but for an Ashley or a Jessica or a Kiley\u2026who knows, maybe?\u00a0 I repeat it and ask her to check if my free drink is in the computer.\u00a0 Well we\u2019ve been having problems checking against the cards (I see, the app would indeed be better) and the Starbucks computer hasn\u2019t been responding and\u2026.oh\u2026it went through.\u00a0 \u00a0I didn\u2019t actually say it this time but she was indeed\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Continue through last week in anticipation of what I call the periodic justify your existence meeting this week.\u00a0 Provide the information the project leaders were looking for only to find out it was being used at a conference call I only off handedly heard about.\u00a0 You know I\u2019m all for the next generation coming up and making a difference and I really worry about being labeled the old woman when I try and hint that they may not be entirely on track in their thinking.\u00a0 Well this dinosaur knows like she knows that some people are plunging head first into fixing an anomaly by changing policy and they don\u2019t know what they don\u2019t know.\u00a0 Point is they are starting from no.\u00a0 After struggling with a spreadsheet that would provide the much needed reality check over the weekend I closed it and I\u2019ll be damned if I know where it went.\u00a0 Note to self\u2026.trying to justify your existence over the weekend with an I\u2019ll show those spiky haired, skinny jeans kids sucking up to the guy on the ledge with one foot on a banana peel attitude might not have been the right motivation.\u00a0 Sometimes the universe provides a motivation check on my behalf;
