{"id":1520,"date":"2013-07-07T07:48:46","date_gmt":"2013-07-07T11:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/?p=1520"},"modified":"2013-07-07T07:59:23","modified_gmt":"2013-07-07T11:59:23","slug":"from-where-i-stand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/2013\/07\/07\/from-where-i-stand\/","title":{"rendered":"From Where I Stand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/030.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1521\" alt=\"030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ordinarylegacy.com\/word\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/030-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Perspective is personal.\u00a0 It belongs to you, you own it, and no one can take it away from you.\u00a0 It resides in you, it\u2019s where you come from, it\u2019s how you react, it\u2019s all about you baby.<\/p>\n<p>That said do you even know what yours is?\u00a0 Can you explain your perspective?\u00a0 Are you a glass half full or a glass half empty kind of individual?\u00a0 Do you reflect or react?\u00a0 Are you fearful or fearless?\u00a0 Does it even matter to you?<\/p>\n<p>I feel like this is one of those words and concepts George Carlin would have loved:\u00a0 let\u2019s put it in perspective, from my perspective, keep things in perspective, you get the picture it\u2019s one of those things that everybody has and no one can explain.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a moving target, literally.\u00a0 Perspective is always changing, it\u2019s based on where you\u2019ve been, what you\u2019ve experienced or never experienced, how you\u2019ve been treated and how you treat, it is the ultimate oxymoron.<\/p>\n<p>Perspective is a snapshot in time.\u00a0 It\u2019s where you stand at any given moment, it\u2019s how you feel, what you know and what excites you.\u00a0 You don\u2019t always feel the same, your knowledge is always increasing sometimes in a positive way sometimes in a negative way.\u00a0 Ever find yourself saying, \u201cif I knew then what I know now\u201d?\u00a0 Therein lies perspective.<\/p>\n<p>What does excite you?\u00a0 These days I\u2019m excited about photography again (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/95430220@N06\/\">http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/95430220@N06\/<\/a>).\u00a0 I\u2019m excited about writing.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited about ordinary things that somehow now seem very special.\u00a0 Cooking excites me, walking excites me, dancing excites me\u2026so many things excite me these days and my perspective reflects that excitement.\u00a0 I love hauling my butt out of bed each day, that wasn\u2019t always the case and that was a very different perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Someone said to me recently I\u2019m afraid to say it out loud when texting about someone\u2019s illness.\u00a0 I felt like that when my friend Cookie was sick.\u00a0 I felt as if it was a jinx that would somehow do him more harm than good.\u00a0 What I learned was to say it out loud puts light on it and healing comes from the light not from the darkness.\u00a0 My perspective changed.\u00a0 I like things in the light now.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically my home isn\u2019t filled with light but I love it.\u00a0 I live in an evening home.\u00a0 Some homes are day homes and others are evening homes apparently homes have perspective also.\u00a0 I like the soft light from the lamps, I like that my office has big day light but my bedroom has low light.\u00a0 I love the feeling of softened edges rather than sharp lines.\u00a0 What you create comes from your perspective and what you have to work with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom where I stand\u201d was a photo prompt from a recent photo treasure hunt I participated in that urged you to look down at your feet where ever you are at the moment and snap the shot.\u00a0 There is a group on Flickr dedicated entirely to the concept of \u201cfrom where I stand\u201d and it is at once hysterical, heartwarming, dire and light hearted.\u00a0 It truly captures (pun intended) the concept of perspective in that no matter where you are your perspective is with you.\u00a0\u00a0 And when you move to the next spot to capture the shot your perspective changes and then there you are caught up in your perspective again. I love the idea of perspective and I love that my perspective is ever changing.\u00a0\u00a0 I love that I have total control over the way I look at things because in the truest definition of the word perspective is a view.\u00a0 I know like I know that I am working hard on my perspective and it is working hard on me.<\/p>\n<p>When all is said and done what people will think of me, what people will remember about me will come from\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>wait for it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>their own perspective.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perspective is personal.\u00a0 It belongs to you, you own it, and no one can take it away from you.\u00a0 It resides in you, it\u2019s where you come from, it\u2019s how you react, it\u2019s all about you baby.
