Spring brings more light, a warmer sun, and the promise of a garden to come. I can just about make out the tips of the hosta, the poke of the sweet woodruff and the tulips (all two of them that are left) are leafed out but no bud yet.<\/p>\n

Spring begins with the vernal equinox.\u00a0 Equinox from the Latin \u201cequal night\u201d.\u00a0 The days and the nights are just about equal everywhere.\u00a0 The tilt of the earth is zero.\u00a0 This got me thinking\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had an interesting week full of juxtaposition, equal day and night.\u00a0 Equal easy and difficult.\u00a0 Equal good and not so much.\u00a0 I found myself saying I know like I know for the day, easy, and good circumstances.\u00a0 No surprise there. But then I found myself saying I don\u2019t know what I don\u2019t know<\/i><\/b> for the night, difficult, and not so much situations.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not always like this, equal.\u00a0 Sometimes, no mostly, it\u2019s all good (I\u2019m always reminded of Toots whenever I say those words) a lot like summer. \u00a0\u00a0Rarely is it all difficult, a lot like winter.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m talking more about the I know like I know stuff being the cornerstone of my being.\u00a0 I take what I know for sure and cement it to my life.<\/p>\n

But this week, this week has been different.\u00a0 I\u2019m opening myself up to I don\u2019t know what I don\u2019t know<\/i><\/b> in response to my otherwise smart ass usual snap judgments.\u00a0 To the most helpful phone conversation with himself, to the 3:45am break-in at my neighbors, to the pop in behind the scenes Facebook conversation with my dear friend in Amsterdam all these have left me saying, I don\u2019t know what I don\u2019t know<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 There are ways of being and personal issues looming in everyone\u2019s life, everyone has a story.\u00a0 But I\u2019m no longer satisfied to assume I know the story.\u00a0 There seems to be so much more.<\/p>\n

So, Spring has started a time of new beginnings for me, where the admission of not knowing will lead to further exploration, understanding and empathy.\u00a0 Combine that with the acknowledgment that the unknown isn\u2019t as daunting as I once thought and I know like I know that more light, warmer sun and the promise of growth might happen to me too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
