You may never know what results come from your actions, but if you do nothing there will be no results….  Mahatma Gandhi

Welcome to Ordinary Legacy.  Over the last several years this little blog has highlighted the ordinary moments in my life on Stowe Lane that are creating my legacy. I had hoped to create a space where many people could come and share their stories of how they are living their lives the way they want their story told, but instead many of them trusted me to relay them. I couldn’t have been more honored.

Most are ordinary people creating extraordinary legacies simply by making their way in the world deliberately, doing the best they can with what they have, savoring moments in time knowing full well that in the end (and there will be an end) only their story will remain. There comes a moment when you realize that each and every day is a gift you can give to yourself and to the world…that someone may speak your name when you’re gone and remember you fondly.

I try to remember that there are lessons to teach as well as much to learn. That combination is powerful in the present moments of a life. Do you ask yourself if your actions or words are representing you the way you want to be remembered and who you are now? I know I do.

Ordinary moments can have the most meaning, the biggest laughs, and the greatest payoffs.  So many of the celebrations remembered most are the ones that happen spontaneously, and some of the fondest memories can be as simple as time spent with a friend.

Legacy in its definition is a gift.  So many people mistake that gift as tangible when in reality it is not.  I strive to live my life the way I want my story told, you too have the most to offer simply by being you.  You may recognize yourself in many of these stories and you may be moved to share some of your own, please let me know if can help you.  Even just a small comment could prove beneficial to both you and someone reading.

As I fully embrace this part of my life, the retired from paid work part, I’m looking forward to using the blog as an extension of my work on Instagram, the stories told there, many about me and an old dog.  Through photo walks, speed scratch recipes for one, and images and words that move me I hope to touch something in all of us.

Thank you for being here, thank you for supporting me in my efforts to leave behind my ordinary legacy.

  1. Since the day we met, I’ve held you in the highest regards and reverence the truth to self that is an inspiring quality you posses. You are an amazing person, woman, and friend. Solid as concrete…. XOXOXO

  2. I want my actions to be proof of my legacy. To look at life from where others are coming from and with no expectations seems to make me the happiest. Sounds so simple but damn is it hard to do. I practice everyday and I make a mistake everyday but I strive to make progress.
